Internet Purchases of Heating and
Cooling
Homeowners using the Internet to locate information regarding residential
heating and cooling systems (HVAC) may discover several sites offering a
direct-to-homeowner purchase opportunity. HVAC systems and components are
designed to be installed by qualified independent HVAC technicians. The
installation of HVAC systems includes electrical, gas, and refrigerant
connections. Unless connected properly by a trained professional, the
equipment may not operate properly. In most states, the installation of HVAC
systems is regulated by local, state and federal laws or guidelines.
Warranty Coverage
Goodman Manufacturing Company, L.P. provides no written warranty on any
product purchased over the Internet, including web-based auctions.
Professional Installation
It is common that an HVAC installer must be licensed by the state. Please
consult your local laws to determine if you live in any of the states that
impose this mandate. Further, local building codes require specific types of
HVAC connections be made by specific professionals. For example, licensed
plumbers may be required to make any gas or water connections necessary in
the installation of any HVAC system, and licensed electricians may be
required to make all electrical connections to the HVAC system. Many
professional HVAC dealers and installers have all the necessary licenses to
make all connections necessary to properly install an HVAC part, component,
or system. To locate a qualified HVAC professional dealer, you can use the
Dealer Locator services provided on the Home Page at:
www.goodmanmfg.com .
Refrigerant Guidelines
All HVAC cooling equipment and systems require the use of a refrigerant gas
that is compressed and liquefied during the cooling cycle. The two most
common refrigerants in the HVAC industry are identified as R-22 and R-410a.
Federal, state, and local laws and guidelines are applicable to the
introduction, reclamation, and recycling of this refrigerant. Violation of
such laws may result in punishment and/or fines to any non-licensed or
non-certified HVAC installer. Consult your local laws and guidelines for
full details. |
